THE KING’S FLUTE
Operetta in three acts
Inspired by the biographical events of Frederick II of Prussia, the operetta was completed in 1942. In addition to solo and choral voices, an important role is naturally played by the flute, the instrument of choice of the king, as well as of the young protagonist, who will save the monarch from a palace conspiracy. The reviews of the time underscored how the show was essentially different from the ‘usual operettas’: these latter more listenable in comparison to The King’s Flute been more educational.
